Tell us a bit about yourself and Lé Weekend! How did the store come to be?
I was born and raised around the fashion and retail industry - my dad has owned a men's clothing store for almost 33 years. I joke, but I truly was bitten by the retail bug from a very young age. I have always loved well-tailored and thoughtful clothing. I studied Apparel Design at Auburn University and then moved to NYC where I worked for brands like Roxanne Assouline and Theory. My husband and I moved back to Birmingham during the pandemic, and I dreamt of a space that would encourage community and allow women the joy of getting dressed.
After months and months of business plans and ideations, Le Weekend was born; a curated women's clothing store that features high-end, quality clothing that is never fussy and always timeless. Each and every piece in the store embodies the freeness of the weekend - from lounging around to lengthy spirited dinners with loved ones.
Do you find that your time in New York City has influenced not only your personal style, but the style of Lé Weekend?
Absolutely! It's hard not to be influenced or inspired by New York City. My favorite thing about the city is that people just wear whatever they want to wear, whatever makes them feel confident, just whatever the hell they want. And there is something so freeing about that. That's really what Le Weekend is about. We are here to help you feel lighter, joy-filled, and confident from head to toe.
What has been the proudest moment for you in your career?
Honestly, the first day we opened! For every person who believed in my vision, there were five more people eager to tell me that retail was dead after the pandemic. I'm really proud of staying true to my vision and remaining confident in my gut instinct that people desired to shop in person again.
Who are the women that inspire you?
My mom and two sisters are easily my biggest inspirations! I always say that if my CEO badass momma, older working sister that is a mother of two little girls, and younger bombshell chemical engineer sister can find something at LW, I am doing my job well. They inspire me to tilt my head a little and see things differently.
How do you prepare for NYFW, and what trends are you most excited to see?
I don’t know if there is truly much preparation you can do, I just want to soak in every fabulous second of my time in the city and look at beautiful clothes made by beautiful people! As for trends, I love to see how classic silhouettes are reintroduced in a fresh way. I am a white button down and good pair of jeans type girl to my core.
Do you have any go-to spots in New York City that you always stop by when you’re in town?
I usually stay at The Mercer in Soho because I dream of their food. And if I don’t carve out time to shop on the UES then I get sad!
If you were a color, what color would you be and why?
Brown. I have always had an obsession with brown. It’s mysterious and luxe, rich and creamy, strong yet supple. I really love it.
